🌿 Achillea millefolium ‘Fruit Bowl’ Mix

A vibrant and cheerful mix of compact yarrow cultivars, Achillea ‘Fruit Bowl’ bursts into bloom with flat-topped flower heads in bright shades of pink, red, apricot, and yellow. Loved by pollinators and gardeners alike, this mix provides bold summer colour and a long flowering season, all on neat, ferny foliage that stays fresh throughout the year.

Its compact growth habit makes it especially suited to the front of borders, raised beds, or gravel gardens where structure and colour are both needed.

Specifications:

  • Height: 30–45cm

  • Spread: 40–60cm

  • Flowering: June to September

  • Position: Full sun

  • Soil: Free-draining; tolerates poor soils, drought, and exposed sites

🌿 Note for Isle of Wight planting:
Ideal for the island’s breezy, free-draining conditions. Fruit Bowl thrives in full sun and is perfect for dry coastal borders or gardens where heat and wind are a factor. It stands up well to drought and attracts hoverflies, bees, and butterflies throughout the summer.

🌿 Ideal Companion Plants from The Green Standard Range:

1. Salvia ‘Caradonna’
The upright violet spires contrast beautifully with Fruit Bowl’s rounded flower heads for a strong, pollinator-rich pairing.

2. Gaura lindheimeri ‘The Bride’
Adds a delicate, airy layer above the solid yarrow forms, creating motion and softness.

3. Geranium ‘Rozanne’
Tumbles through the border and provides cool-toned contrast and long-season interest.

4. Hylotelephium ‘Iceberg’
Blends seamlessly in later summer, keeping the border dynamic as Fruit Bowl finishes.

5. Pennisetum orientale ‘Flamingo’
Graceful grasses frame the vivid blooms with a soft haze of movement and texture.

🌟 The Green Standard Tip:
Cut back after the first flush to encourage a second round of blooms. These yarrows are also fantastic for dried arrangements — simply hang bunches upside-down in a dry, dark space.
