Planting Plans
Thoughtful planting for real Isle of Wight gardens
Sometimes a garden just needs a bit of direction. Whether you're starting with a blank canvas or trying to bring a tired border back to life, a planting plan helps you choose the right plants and place them with confidence.
We’re Jenni and Alan from Plants by the Green Standard, and we spend our days growing plants and working in gardens across the Isle of Wight. That means we understand what actually thrives here, from windy coastal gardens to sheltered town borders.
Our planting plans focus on hardy perennials, pollinator friendly plants, drought tolerant choices, and productive edibles, plants that look beautiful but are also practical and long lasting.

What a Planting Plan Includes
Every plan is tailored to your space and how you want to use your garden.
Your plan will include:
• A clear planting layout showing where each plant should go
• A carefully chosen plant list suited to your soil, sun, and exposure
• Spacing guidance so plants fill out naturally over time
• Simple care notes to help your garden thrive
We design planting that works in real gardens, not just picture perfect ones.
Plant Supply
One of the advantages of working with us is that we grow many of the plants we recommend here on the Isle of Wight.
That means you can often buy the exact plants from us, grown locally and already suited to island conditions.
Collection or local delivery is available.
Types of Plans We Offer
Border Refresh
Perfect for reviving a tired border or planting a new bed.
Includes a full planting layout, plant list and bloom calendar for one area.
Multi-Area Garden Plan
Ideal if several areas of your garden need planting.
We create a coordinated scheme across multiple borders or spaces while still tailoring plants to each area.
Starting Your Plan
Everything begins with a relaxed consultation. This can be in person on the Isle of Wight or remotely using photos and measurements.
If you’re unsure where to start, that’s absolutely fine. Many of our clients come to us with just a rough idea and we help turn it into a planting scheme that works beautifully over time.
