Ajuga reptans ‘Burgundy Glow’

A colourful carpet-forming perennial with year-round foliage interest.

Ajuga ‘Burgundy Glow’ is a striking groundcover, loved for its tricoloured leaves of deep burgundy, cream, and green that remain attractive right through winter. In spring, it sends up short spikes of rich blue flowers that bees and other pollinators can’t resist. The foliage shifts in tone with the seasons, often taking on stronger purple hues in colder months, making it a valuable plant for all-year colour at ground level.

This hardy perennial thrives in sun or partial shade and adapts well to most soils, even clay, as long as there’s some moisture. It spreads to form a dense mat that suppresses weeds while adding brightness and texture. Perfect for edging, containers, rockeries, or carpeting under shrubs, Ajuga ‘Burgundy Glow’ is both tough and decorative, making it a garden favourite.
