Aster 'Barr's Blue'
A superb late-season perennial with masses of lavender-blue daisy flowers that keep the garden buzzing well into autumn.
Aster 'Barr's Blue' produces clouds of semi-double lavender-blue flowers with bright golden centres from late summer through to autumn. The blooms are held on sturdy stems above healthy green foliage, creating a haze of colour when many other perennials are beginning to fade. It is highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinators, making it one of the most valuable late-season nectar plants.
Thriving in full sun or light shade, this reliable clump-forming perennial is easy to grow and mixes beautifully with ornamental grasses and other autumn-flowering plants. Its tall, airy habit allows it to weave naturally through borders, adding both height and a long season of colour.
