Bergenia ‘Eden’s Dark Margin’

A bold evergreen Bergenia with glossy foliage, dark-edged leaves and bright spring flowers.

Bergenia ‘Eden’s Dark Margin’ is an attractive evergreen perennial valued for both its flowers and its year-round foliage. Clusters of rich pink flowers rise above broad, glossy green leaves in spring, providing an early splash of colour and a useful source of nectar for emerging pollinators. The foliage develops distinctive dark red to burgundy margins, with the colouring becoming particularly noticeable during cooler weather.

Tough and dependable, it grows well in sun or partial shade and is adaptable to a range of soils, provided they are not excessively dry for long periods. It gradually forms a substantial clump of leathery leaves, making it particularly useful for edging borders, beneath shrubs and for bringing evergreen structure to partially shaded planting schemes.
