Gaura lindheimeri ‘Siskiyou Pink’
Bring graceful movement and soft colour to your borders with Gaura lindheimeri ‘Siskiyou Pink’. This airy perennial produces clouds of starry pink flowers held on long, wand-like stems that sway beautifully in the breeze. The constant succession of blooms from early summer to autumn makes it a magnet for bees and butterflies, while its light, ethereal presence adds a romantic touch to planting schemes.
‘Siskiyou Pink’ thrives in full sun and free-draining soil, making it especially suited to gravel gardens, prairie-style planting, and naturalistic borders. Its relaxed, bushy habit fills gaps with ease, and once established it copes well with drought and poor soils. Regular deadheading will keep the flowers coming right through the season.
Specifications:
• Height: 60–90cm
• Spread: 50–70cm
• Flowering: June to October
• Position: Full sun
• Soil: Well-drained, light to moderately fertile
• Maintenance: Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering; cut back in spring as new growth appears
🌿 Note for Isle of Wight planting:
Perfect for the island’s long, warm summers, ‘Siskiyou Pink’ enjoys the dry, free-draining soils found in coastal and exposed sites. Avoid heavy, waterlogged ground in winter to ensure its longevity.
🌿 Ideal Companion Plants from The Green Standard Range:
• Perovskia ‘Blue Spire’ – silvery foliage and violet-blue spikes for contrast
• Salvia microphylla ‘Blue Monrovia’ – long-lasting purple-blue blooms for pollinators
• Cephalaria gigantea – tall, lemon-yellow pincushion flowers for height and drama
• Agastache ‘Apache Sunset’ – warm coral tones that complement the pink flowers
🌟 The Green Standard Tip
Plant Gaura in generous groups to maximise its airy, dancing effect and combine it with sturdier perennials for support and contrast.
