Iris ‘Bold Print’
A striking tall bearded iris with beautifully patterned blooms that bring real drama to late spring borders.
Iris ‘Bold Print’ produces large flowers with creamy white standards above boldly marked falls, heavily patterned with rich purple veining and edging. The strong contrast and intricate markings give each bloom a distinctive, almost hand-painted appearance that stands out beautifully in the garden. Flowers are held high above upright fans of sword-like foliage, adding height, structure, and colour to sunny planting schemes.
This hardy perennial thrives in full sun and well-drained soil where the rhizomes can bask in warmth. Plants gradually form tidy clumps and return reliably each year, making them ideal for sunny borders, gravel gardens, and cottage-style planting where good drainage is key.

Note for Isle of Wight planting:
Bearded irises are well suited to Isle of Wight gardens where sunny, free-draining conditions allow rhizomes to thrive. Plant them in a warm border or raised bed where the rhizomes can sit slightly exposed and enjoy plenty of sunshine.
Ideal Companion Plants from The Green Standard Range:
Geum ‘Fireball’, bright orange flowers that provide warm contrast
Erysimum ‘Tangerine Titan’, long-flowering wallflower with glowing sunset tones
Nepeta ‘Six Hills Giant’, relaxed lavender-blue flowers loved by pollinators
Erigeron karvinskianus, delicate daisies that soften the front of borders
🌟 The Green Standard Tip:
Plant iris rhizomes so the top sits just above the soil surface. Good drainage and plenty of sun will keep plants healthy and encourage strong flowering year after year.
