 Linaria ‘Neon Lights’

A cheerful, compact plant that adds instant colour to sunny borders, rockeries, and containers. Linaria ‘Neon Lights’ delivers a medley of magenta, orange, gold, and violet blooms on fine, upright stems—offering a soft, meadow-like effect that lasts all summer. Despite its small stature, it’s a pollinator magnet, attracting bees and hoverflies while fitting effortlessly into tight spaces or naturalistic schemes.

It’s undemanding, drought-tolerant once established, and often self-seeds to reappear with fresh surprises each year.

Specifications:

Height: 20–25cm
Spread: 15–20cm
Flowering: June to September
Position: Full sun
Soil: Light, free-draining
Maintenance: Deadhead to extend flowering; allow some seed heads to remain for naturalising

🌿 Note for Isle of Wight planting:
Ideal for gravel gardens, dry banks, or exposed sunny beds across the Island. Linaria ‘Neon Lights’ thrives in low-nutrient soils and coastal conditions, making it a great fit for wildlife-friendly and drought-resilient planting schemes.

🌿 Ideal Companion Plants from The Green Standard Range:
Erigeron karvinskianus – Soft, low-spreading daisies that mirror the airy feel of Linaria
Achillea millefolium ‘Paprika’ – A bolder backdrop with long-lasting colour and pollinator appeal
Sedum ‘Iceberg’ – Late-season structure and contrast, all while loving the same dry conditions
Verbena rigida ‘Oneness’ – Height, colour intensity, and continued flowering to match the Linaria rhythm
Gaura ‘The Bride’ – Soft movement and ethereal presence to round out a naturalistic palette

🌟 The Green Standard Tip:
Plant in groups for an informal, self-seeding tapestry that evolves year on year. Perfect in pots, cracks, and wild patches that need a low-maintenance splash of colour.
