Nepeta ‘Blue Wonder’
A compact cloud of lavender-blue flowers that bees simply cannot resist.
Nepeta ‘Blue Wonder’ produces masses of soft lavender-blue flowers held above aromatic grey-green foliage. Flowering for months through summer, the blooms create a haze of colour that is constantly alive with bees and other pollinators. The relaxed, slightly spilling habit makes it perfect for softening the edges of borders and pathways while bringing long-lasting colour.
This hardy perennial thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, coping well with dry conditions once established. Plants form neat, low mounds that flower generously and can be cut back after the first flush to encourage a fresh wave of blooms. It’s a reliable, easy-care plant that works beautifully in cottage gardens, wildlife borders and drought-tolerant planting schemes.

Ideal Companion Plants from The Green Standard Range
Geum ‘Fireball’ – fiery orange flowers create a vibrant contrast against the cool blue nepeta blooms
Achillea ‘Lilac Beauty’ – soft lilac flower plates echo the colour palette while adding height
Calamagrostis ‘Karl Foerster’ – upright grass stems provide strong vertical structure behind the relaxed nepeta mound
Scabiosa ‘Alba’ – delicate white pincushion flowers float above the blue haze and attract even more pollinators
🌟 The Green Standard Tip
Once the first flush of flowers fades, shear the plant back by about half. Nepeta quickly regrows and rewards you with a fresh wave of blooms and even more bee activity.
