Nepeta ‘Little Titch’
One of the smallest catmints, forming a neat mound of aromatic foliage covered with soft lavender-blue flowers.
Nepeta ‘Little Titch’ produces masses of delicate lavender-blue flowers from late spring and continues flowering through summer, particularly when trimmed after its first flush. Its small, aromatic grey-green leaves form a compact cushion, while the nectar-rich flowers are extremely attractive to bees and other pollinating insects. Unlike larger catmints, its diminutive habit makes it particularly useful where space is limited.
Best grown in full sun and free-draining soil, ‘Little Titch’ is tough, drought tolerant once established and very easy to grow. It stays naturally low and compact rather than flopping across neighbouring plants, making it excellent for border edges, gravel gardens, pathways, raised beds and containers.

🌿 Note for Isle of Wight planting
A particularly good little perennial for sunny Isle of Wight gardens. Once established, its tolerance of dry conditions makes it well suited to our increasingly hot, dry summers, as well as gravel gardens and coastal planting. Avoid planting into persistently wet winter soil.
🌿 Ideal Companion Plants from The Green Standard Range
Erigeron ‘Lavender Lady’ – similarly low and long flowering, perfect for softening sunny border and gravel edges.
Thyme ‘Faustino’ – creates a wonderfully aromatic, drought-tolerant combination for the very front of a sunny border.
Festuca glauca ‘Elijah Blue’ – compact blue-grey grass providing year-round structure alongside the softer catmint.
Achillea ‘Lilac Beauty’ – taller, flat flower heads rise beautifully behind the low mound of Nepeta.
Salvia ‘Caradonna’ – its upright dark stems and violet flowers provide excellent contrast to Nepeta's soft, spreading shape.
Gaura ‘The Bride’ – airy white flowers add height and movement behind a low edging of ‘Little Titch’.
🌟 The Green Standard Tip
Use ‘Little Titch’ right at the front of a sunny border rather than treating it like a smaller version of ‘Six Hills Giant’. Its compact size is its real strength. Planting three or five together creates a low, bee-friendly ribbon of lavender-blue that will soften hard edges without overwhelming neighbouring plants.
