Nepeta ‘Six Hills Giant’

A vigorous, long-flowering catmint that fills borders with soft blue colour and constant pollinator activity.

Loose spikes of lavender-blue flowers appear above aromatic grey-green foliage from late spring through summer. The flowers create a soft haze of colour and are a magnet for bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects. Its relaxed, slightly arching habit makes it perfect for softening the edges of paths, borders and larger planting schemes.

Nepeta ‘Six Hills Giant’ thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, forming generous clumps that spread wider than many other nepeta varieties. Despite the name it is not particularly tall, but it does grow broad and flowing, making it excellent for filling space in borders or weaving between taller perennials. Once established it is drought tolerant and very easy to grow.

Ideal Companion Plants from The Green Standard Range

  • Salvia ‘Nachtvlinder’, deep violet flower spikes rising through the blue haze for dramatic contrast

  • Penstemon ‘Hidcote Pink’, elegant pink trumpets that weave naturally through the foliage

  • Verbena bonariensis, tall airy stems that add height and movement above the nepeta

  • Achillea ‘Lilac Beauty’, flat pollinator-friendly flowers that complement the relaxed planting style

🌟 The Green Standard Tip
Shear the plant back by about half after the first big flush of flowers. Nepeta responds quickly and will produce fresh foliage and another wave of blooms later in the season.
