🌿 Nepeta ‘Six Hills Giant’
Nepeta ‘Six Hills Giant’ is a robust, long-flowering catmint that earns its place in any garden with clouds of lavender-blue flowers and aromatic grey-green foliage. Beloved by bees and butterflies, this drought-tolerant perennial forms generous mounds that spill gracefully over paths, soften border edges, and weave through other plants with informal ease. Flowering begins in early summer and, if cut back after the first flush, often continues until autumn.

🌿 Note for Isle of Wight planting:
‘Six Hills Giant’ thrives in the island’s dry, sunny gardens, particularly in coastal or exposed sites. It’s excellent for poor soils, raised beds, gravel gardens, or south-facing borders. Once established, it needs very little care — a mid-season chop will reward you with a second flush of flowers and tighter form.
🌿 Ideal Companion Plants for Nepeta ‘Six Hills Giant’:
1. Salvia ‘Caradonna’
Their upright dark flower spikes cut through the soft mounds of Nepeta beautifully, offering rhythm and contrast.
2. Achillea millefolium ‘New Vintage Red’
Cool lavender tones from Nepeta provide an ideal foil for the rich reds of Achillea.
3. Gaura lindheimeri ‘The Bride’
Delicate white flowers fluttering above Nepeta’s haze of blue create a breezy, long-lasting pairing.
4. Verbena rigida ‘Oneness’
Their shared love of sun and drought makes them perfect neighbours in wildlife-friendly planting schemes.
5. Geranium ‘Rozanne’
Blue on blue — these two reliable perennials flower together beautifully while covering ground with minimal fuss.
🌟 The Green Standard Tip:
Use Nepeta ‘Six Hills Giant’ in repetition to create a sense of flow in wider borders. It’s also ideal for planting at the feet of roses or around the base of fruit trees to suppress weeds and attract pollinators.
