Nepeta stewartiana
A charming and relatively uncommon catmint, treasured for its delicately speckled flowers and exceptional value to pollinators.
Nepeta stewartii produces masses of lavender-blue flowers throughout summer, each bloom adorned with intricate purple speckling deep within its throat. These delicate markings give the flowers an almost hand-painted appearance and reward a closer look. The long-lasting blooms are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects, bringing both beauty and wildlife into the garden.
Unlike some of the larger, more vigorous catmints, Nepeta stewartii forms a neat mound of aromatic grey-green foliage that sits comfortably amongst other perennials. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, coping admirably with dry conditions once established. Perfect for gravel gardens, cottage-style planting and the front of sunny borders, it provides months of colour with very little maintenance.
