Nepeta ‘Walker’s Low’

A beautifully reliable, pollinator-friendly perennial with soft, flowing colour that works in almost any garden setting.

Clouds of lavender-blue flowers sit above aromatic grey-green foliage from late spring right through summer, creating a hazy, relaxed look that softens edges beautifully. Loved by bees and other pollinators, it’s one of those plants that brings a garden to life with movement and gentle colour, especially when planted in drifts.

Exceptionally easy-going, Nepeta ‘Walker’s Low’ thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, coping brilliantly with dry, coastal conditions. It forms a low, spreading mound that gently spills over paths and borders, and benefits from a light trim after its first flush to encourage fresh growth and more flowers later in the season.

Perfect for exposed and coastal gardens, this is a go-to for dry, sunny spots where other plants may struggle. It pairs beautifully with gravel gardens and free-draining soils common across the island.

Ideal Companion Plants from The Green Standard Range

  • Achillea ‘Lilac Beauty’ – flat lilac umbels that echo the soft tones while adding structure

  • Salvia ‘Joy’ – upright colour contrast with deeper pink-purple tones

  • Erigeron ‘Lavender Lady’ – delicate daisy flowers that weave through and extend the flowering season

  • Calamagrostis ‘Karl Foerster’ – vertical grass to contrast the soft, billowing habit

🌟 The Green Standard Tip
Plant in groups of three or more and let it spill slightly onto paths or gravel, it’s when Nepeta is allowed to relax and wander a little that it looks at its very best.
