Penstemon ‘Snowstorm’
A fresh, elegant Penstemon with masses of crisp white flowers that brighten borders from early summer well into autumn.
Penstemon ‘Snowstorm’ produces tall spires packed with pure white trumpet-shaped blooms, often with a soft green throat that glows in evening light. Bees and other pollinators are frequent visitors, and the clean white flowers work beautifully to soften brighter planting schemes or create a calming cottage garden feel. Its long flowering season makes it invaluable for adding months of colour.
Thriving in a sunny, well-drained position, this semi-evergreen perennial forms neat upright clumps with fresh green foliage. It copes well with coastal conditions and lighter soils, making it a reliable performer for many Isle of Wight gardens. Like most Penstemons, it benefits from avoiding heavy winter wet and appreciates a light mulch rather than hard pruning until spring growth begins.
Specifications:
Height: 70–90cm
Spread: 45–60cm
Flowering: June to October
Position: Full sun to light shade

Ideal Companion Plants from The Green Standard Range
Salvia ‘Rose Queen’, soft pink-purple flower spikes that weave naturally through the white blooms
Gaura ‘Passionate Blush’, airy movement and delicate blush flowers for a romantic planting style
Nepeta ‘Walker’s Low’, long-flowering lavender-blue tones loved by pollinators
Stipa tenuissima, soft flowing grass that adds texture and movement around upright Penstemons
Achillea ‘Lilac Beauty’, flat flower heads that contrast beautifully with the vertical flower spikes
🌟 The Green Standard Tip
Deadhead regularly to encourage continuous flowering right through summer and into autumn. Avoid cutting Penstemons hard back before winter, the old stems help protect the crown during colder weather.
