Rudbeckia ‘Juligold’

A bright, cheerful perennial with golden-yellow daisy flowers that bring a burst of sunshine from mid to late summer.

‘Juligold’ is a reliable and long-flowering rudbeckia, producing masses of warm golden blooms with dark centres that stand out beautifully in the border. It’s a real pollinator magnet, drawing in bees and butterflies, and works brilliantly for adding strong colour just as many earlier perennials begin to fade.

It forms a sturdy, clump-forming plant, typically reaching around 60–80cm tall with a similar spread. Best grown in full sun, it thrives in most soils as long as they are reasonably well-drained, and is tougher than it looks once established. Regular deadheading will keep it flowering for longer, and it can be cut back in autumn or left for a bit of winter structure.

Note for Isle of Wight planting
A great performer on the Isle of Wight, especially in sunny, open positions. It copes well with coastal conditions once established, though it will appreciate a bit of moisture in very dry spells to keep it flowering at its best.

Ideal Companion Plants from The Green Standard Range

  • Salvia ‘Schwellenburg’, soft purple tones that contrast beautifully with the golden flowers

  • Calamagrostis ‘Karl Foerster’, adds height and structure behind the blooms

  • Nepeta ‘Six Hills Giant’, relaxed blue tones that soften the bold yellow

  • Achillea ‘Terracotta’, warm, earthy tones that blend well in a late summer palette

  • Eryngium planum ‘Fluela’, cool blue contrast and a tougher, architectural feel

🌟 The Green Standard Tip
Plant in drifts or small groups rather than singly, rudbeckias always look better when they create a block of colour later in the season.
