Salvia greggii ‘Joy’

A cheerful, long-flowering salvia that brings colour and pollinators to sunny gardens.

Salvia greggii ‘Joy’ produces bright pink flowers on slender stems above small, aromatic green leaves. The vibrant blooms appear over a very long season, often from early summer right into autumn, and are highly attractive to bees and other pollinators. The airy flowering habit gives borders a relaxed feel while adding vibrant colour.

This compact, shrubby perennial thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Like many salvias it copes well with drier conditions once established and is perfect for gravel gardens, sunny borders and wildlife planting. Plants form neat bushy clumps and benefit from a light trim after flowering to encourage fresh growth.

Ideal Companion Plants from The Green Standard Range

  • Geum ‘Fireball’ – fiery orange flowers create a warm, vibrant colour combination in early summer

  • Nepeta ‘Blue Wonder’ – a soft haze of blue flowers that contrasts beautifully with the bright pink salvia

  • Achillea ‘Lilac Beauty’ – flat lilac flower heads add texture and extend the pollinator display

  • Calamagrostis ‘Karl Foerster’ – elegant upright grass that provides height and structure behind the planting

🌟 The Green Standard Tip
In early spring lightly trim plants to keep them compact and bushy. This encourages lots of new flowering stems and an even longer display through the season.
