Sedum 'Purple Emperor' is a stunning, upright perennial prized for its deep, dusky purple foliage and rich pink flower heads. Compact and architectural, it brings bold contrast to sunny borders and late-summer displays. Drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, it’s a natural fit for the Isle of Wight’s warm, free-draining gardens.
Specifications:

Spread: 30–45cm
Flowering: August to October
Position: Full sun

🌿 Note for Isle of Wight planting:
Sedum 'Purple Emperor' loves the island’s bright, dry conditions. Plant in full sun with excellent drainage — gravel beds, raised borders, or sunny coastal gardens are ideal. Minimal watering is needed once established, and its sturdy stems resist wind damage even in exposed locations.
🌿 Ideal Companion Plants for Sedum 'Purple Emperor'
1. Stipa tenuissima 'Ponytails'
The airy movement of Stipa contrasts beautifully with the upright, sculptural form of Sedum.
2. Salvia greggii ‘Oriental Dove’
The soft lilac-pink blooms of Salvia 'Oriental Dove' pair wonderfully with the deep purple foliage of Sedum.
3. Potentilla atrosanguinea ‘Argyrophylla’
The fresh yellow flowers of Potentilla create a striking, natural colour contrast against Sedum’s rich tones.
4. Erigeron karvinskianus (Mexican Fleabane)
Erigeron softens the planting edge, weaving casually among the bolder Sedum forms.
5. Lavender angustifolia
The silvery foliage and violet blooms of Lavender enhance the smoky purple tones of Sedum, adding scent and structure to sunny plantings.
