Verbascum ‘Lavendrum’
A statuesque perennial with soft lavender-purple flower spires that bring height, movement and a beautifully natural feel to sunny borders.
Verbascum ‘Lavendrum’ produces tall, elegant stems carrying masses of lavender-purple flowers above a low rosette of softly textured foliage. Flowering through summer, the upright spires are particularly effective rising through looser perennial planting and are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects.
Best grown in a sunny, well-drained position, it is particularly suited to gravel gardens, dry borders and cottage-style planting. Its strong vertical habit gives structure without creating a heavy block of foliage, making it excellent among grasses and more relaxed, airy perennials. Avoid heavy, waterlogged ground, particularly during winter.

A great choice for the Island's sunnier, free-draining gardens, particularly coastal and gravel-style planting. Give it plenty of drainage over winter and it will cope well with dry conditions once established.

Plant Verbascum slightly back within a border and allow softer plants such as Nepeta, Gaura or Stipa to grow around its base. You'll still get those beautiful vertical flower spikes, while the planting remains full and interesting as the Verbascum begins to fade later in summer.
